Welcome to my site dedicated to Internet Infrastructure as my final project for the BIT 330 class at the University of Michigan. I hope that you are able to find some useful information here. More than that though, I hope that from the sources pages you will be able to use the internet to your advantage and find the information on your own.
As I said, my topic is Internet Infrastructure. There is a lot going on in the US surrounding this topic, with major Internet Service providers starting to cap bandwith for the first time in history. President-elect Barack Obama addressed one of the major issues, network neutrality, on his campaign trail towards the white house. In order to understand these issues though, a basic understanding of what internet infrastructure, and the internet itself, is is necessary.
The first major part of this site will be to provide some background information on the history of Internet Infrastructure. If you are a complete novice, then the first stop to be made is at the page on basics of the internet. From there, a step by step walk through of how it works will probably be in order. And if all of that is old news, or you want to know more then feel free to move on to the more advanced topics.
Once you've got a grasp on what the internet is really like, it is time to take a look at how Internet Infrastructure appears in Current Events. There are some important issues, some new and some old, that will be shaping the way that you access and use the internet in the coming years. The internet is still young, and is expanding at a remarkable rate all around the world.
As it was mentioned in the first paragraph, do not ignore the sources pages. This site is here to provide you with small foundation of information and then to give you the tools to build upon that. By using the sites and techniques that I used myself, you can start to gather more information than you may have thought possible.
If you are too impatient to read through all that, below you can find a custom search engine designed to find you information on internet infrastructure easily. Dive right in!
